Summer Excursions

Summer is a wonderful time to get outdoors or learn more about life under the waves. Our programming dates are still up in the air as we learn about ways that we will be allowed to be together, but we have programming for 3rd-12th grade.

Groups will be 8-10 students together for 4-6 hours in outdoor settings.

Safety and Covid-19:

  • Each camper will be asked to fill out a health form the day of our excursion citing their health at the time of the activity.

  • We will not be wearing masks outside at the beach together, but will be asking students to stay distanced during teaching times.

  • Each student must provide their own snorkel, mask and gear.

  • We will require a temperature check on the morning of the excursion, especially on Family Days.

Amelia Island we are headed your way!

June 29- July 3rd

Grades 4th -8th (Finished 4th-8th grade)

Students will learn all that the coastline of Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach have to offer.

Daily from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Learn about water chemistery, shark tooth hunting, gastropods, driftwood, and all the Florida Ecosystems in this week long beach camp. Each day includes time on various beaches around Amelia Island and Fernadina Beach, hands on learning, science experiments, and a deeper understanding of marine science. On Wednedsy of the camp we will be taking an excursion to Marineland in St. Augustine and Friday will be open to anyone who is free in the whole family to come and learn more!

Camp is limited to 10 students.

Cost: $450

One Day Beach or Snorkeling Excursions

If you are looking to get out and about in the ocean these one days are for you!

While these days are set up to be times of learning for just one day, please feel free to pick multiple days!

3rd-5th Grade Beach Learning:

Meet us at the beach on Singer Island or Jupiter for a 4-6 hour beach learning experience.

June 18th: Ocean Reef Park, Singer Island: $35

5th - 8th Grade Snorkeling

Do you want to learn what lives in the ocean by getting to experience it for yourself? Join us in the water for a one day excursion learning about life in the water.

Dates:

Wednesday June 24th: Peanut Island

Cost: $35, Plus $12 Water Taxi

High School CItizen Science

Be a part of our coral monitoring project out on Peanut Island and learn what it takes to be a scientist in every sense of the word. Come for a day and learn how to get in the water, and be a part of important research.

Thursday June 25th: Peanut Island

Cost: $35, Plus $12 Water Taxi

Family Days

Join us with your family at Peanut Island this July for a few hours to learn exactly what animals you can find in the rocks, in the water, and beyond!

Saturday, June 20th: Peanut Island

Come with your children and learn what’s on the beach and how to find animals, and how to look for animals in the rocks and when you are snorkeling. Meet at the Water Taxi at Riviera Beach and come to Peanut Island to spend time with a Marine Scientist!

$20 per person, plus the cost of the water taxi ($12), 4 hours of teaching.

Children under 3, free, Limited to 10 people

Saturday June 27th: Citizen Science Day

Want to learn what coral research looks like? Come to Peanut Island with us, spend a day in the water with our marine scientist and find out more! Learn how to identify Carribean coral, learn to track it’s health, and how to collect data.

Cost: $35 per person plus $12 water taxi.

Are you looking to go deeper this summer and learn what it takes to be a marine scientist? Students will learn to monitor coral for health, take fish counts, do research, and begin to explore what it might take to take on science as a career. This week is limited to 10 students in High School and must be comfortable swimming in the ocean. Volunteer hours are considered.

Cost of Field Experience is $350

Want learn more about marine science from the comfort of your own home? Would you like to have a “virtual lesson” so that you can take on life under the waves? Join us for a variety of lessons teaching you how to identify fish and coral for your own snorkeling experiences or just take a moment to learn how you too can work with us to save the ocean!
