What Does The Reef Institute Do?
We are on a mission of coral conservation through education, research and restoration

“With every drop of water you drink, every breath you take, you're connected to the sea. No matter where on Earth you live.”- Sylvia Earle
Coral reefs are awe inspiring and vital to the ocean’s survival. While they take up less than 1% of the ocean floor “scientists estimate that nearly one million species of fish, invertebrates, and algae can be found in and around the world's reefs.” (NASA) Additionally, they build a wall to protect coastlines, and economic vitality to more than 100 countries world wide.
Unfortunately, it is estimated globally, that by the year 2050, 90% or more of the world’s coral will be gone. We aim to protect and improve the health and outlook of our coral reefs, but we cannot achieve our goals alone.
